On September 15th, the nearest public meeting on the merger of the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern Railways will take place in Beaumont. Houston communities demand better.
We need a hearing in Houston, where families directly impacted by the merger can be heard.
For years, the health, safety, and well-being of Houston’s poorest and most Black and Brown communities have been sacrificed for corporate interests. The pending mega-merger between Canadian Pacific (CP) and Kansas City Southern (KCS) would be the latest blow to our already hardest-hit communities.
The Harris County region is one of only two non-attainment areas along the project's pathway across the U.S. and Mexico. Houston families are already dealing with the life-and-death consequences of another railway merger where the safety of our community was an afterthought.
We deserve a chance to voice our concerns about our families health, safety, and well-being.
